Let us help you develop your skills as a Peer Research Volunteer!

If you are aged 18 to 25, passionate about youth-led social action and how young people can have a positive impact on their local community, then this opportunity is for you!!

This is an exciting opportunity to take part in the UK evaluation of vCashpoint. vInspired has asked Volunteer Development Scotland, the  with the Institute of Volunteering Research and the Third Sector Research Forum at the University of Birmingham to help them assess the impact of their vCashpoint programme -  a programme that reaches out to young people who want to make a positive difference on an issue that affects their community.  It does this through giving out funding to help young people between the ages of 14 – 25 to turn their ideas for social action projects into a reality!

We don’t need you to have any formal experience or qualifications.  Far more important to us is your passion for how young people can make a difference in their local communities.  You may have been involved in some type of social action yourself, preferably with other young people.  You will certainly be interested in learning more about the impacts of social action.   As the vCashpoint projects are led by young people, we are looking for young people aged between 18 and 25 based in or around Glasgow, Edinburgh or Stirling to do this role.  Lastly, you will be somebody who likes to do things independently as well as being able to get on well with others!  

While this is a voluntary opportunity, you will of course receive your travel and any other expenses.  Much more excitingly than this though, you will gain invaluable skills and experience in planning and carrying out a UK-wide collaborative research project with training, support and mentoring from experts!  You will have the opportunity to take part in free research training sessions, led by the project partners (in London, Birmingham and Stirling).   You will then visit two youth-led projects in Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh or Stirling) which have been given funding by vCashpoint, to conduct interviews and focus groups to explore the impact of the projects.  You will also help us with the analysis and write-up of the evaluation findings depending on your skills and interests.  More generally you’ll get a chance to develop some invaluable skills and experience in communication and project management.  Most importantly of all, we think the project will be an opportunity to have lots of fun!!
