If you are involved with work within your community and would like to be recognised for the work that you do then this is the award for you. The Young Quality Scot Award scheme recognises and rewards the efforts of young people to improve the quality of life in their communities.

To be entitled to the award you must be:

  • 16 to 19 years old
  • personally and actively involved in trying to make a difference to your community by yourself, with friends or through a club or other organisation.
  • Through this award you will be given the chance to take part in a local training event, and then a national celebration where you will receive your certificate.
  • Nomination forms are available each year in November.

The Young Quality Scot Award recognise and reward young volunteers in Scotland and is a partnership between Quality Scotland and ten councils across Scotland.

Young Quality Scot Award winners 2008

This year sixteen young people from Highland received the accolade of Young Quality Scot for their contribution to
their communities and twelve of these young people took part in a local training event at Badaguish, near Aviemore,
which involved interactive workshops on team building, leadership and presentation skills.  See above photo.

The young people also gave a presentation entitled “Being Young in Highland” at the national celebration event, hosted this year by West Lothian Council on 8th and 9th March 2008.
